The real deal - Clit facts (Cliteracy)!

What is a clit?

For years medical texts referred to the clitoris as “pea-sized”. What those researchers failed to do was look internally, not just externally. The clitoris is an organ approximately 10 centimeters in length (internal shafts) and has the shape of a wishbone. The tip (gland) is approximately 4.4 mm.

The entire function of the clitoris is for pleasure, which makes sense since it contains 8,000 nerve endings, double the amount of that of the penis. The clitoris is like a small penis and they are like mirror images of each other, just organized differently. In fact, up until two weeks of pregnancy, all embryos appear to be female and it is not until week eight of gestation that testosterone kicks in and the penis starts to form. All the parts remain the same, they just get rearranged differently.

Pleasure spots - clit

Just like the nose, the clitoris keeps on growing past puberty. Not only that, it never actually ages. Aside from it growing with age, there is no physical difference between a 30 or 70-year-old clitoris. The clitoris also changes in size – the volume of the clitoris increases during arousal and at the time of ovulation.

Pleasure spots:

We've all heard about the infamous G-spot - the G-spot is actually the clitoris. The internal shafts of the clitoral complex can feel pleasurable with vaginal penetration and the tip of the clitoris (gland – external) can also be pleasurable. It is all about personal preference.

The Clitoris comes in all shapes and sizes and every clitoris is unique. The clitoris is pretty darn magical! Just one more reason to celebrate our bodies and our pleasure!
